Frank Capra was a staunch Hollywood Republican.

Capra loathed FDR and his film Mr. Smith goes to Washington was an indictment of the corrupt New Deal politicians that dominated Washington at the time.

btw, Capra saved Walt Disney - another Hollywood Republican - from ruin by insisting that Disney films be distributed. Other Hollywood studios were trying to drive Disney to ruin by keeping his films out of theaters.

btw2, Disney Studios was the only Hollywood studio shut down - actually commandeered - by FDR during WWII. Politics surely played a role.

Those showbiz folk have the courage to admit their political beliefs in that liberal community--how many others prefer to be quiet in order to keep employed? Thanks for adding to that rarified list. :)
