Gee, as an engineer who spent most of his career in R&D I did not see this. But I worked in groups that did R&D that was directly related to creating something real or a real product. It's more a case of what kind of work and not the label. Some Engineers do science and Some Scientist do engineering. The closer any technologist is to solving real problems the more common sense is my experience. Liberals have no common sense.

To me it's those who deal with technology solving real world problems see also how the real world really works.
