BTW, both of these mayoral candidates are two newcomers to the political arena. All the career politicians were voted out in the preliminary election. Whether they are both Democrats or not, at least that is refreshing. New Orleans has a population that is about 70% African American and generally they vote over 90% Democrat, so it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for an openly Republican candidate to win. Unless, there really is a big swing to the Republican party by local African Americans.
