Check with your friend. It sounds interesting enough that I wouldn't mind trying some myself.

Some musky lakes in WI are illegal to troll on. You can use a trolling motor and plug the shoreline, but don't be just draggin the plug with the boats forward motion. It's odd, some lakes are no trolling, some are back trolling only and some are wide open. WI DNR likes to keep things complicated so that they can maximize the number of tickets they write:)
