SDI? 70-ton cannons? Al Qaeda isn't the only threat to this country.

Dear Titular Brain....the Intelligence Community put out an unclassified summary earlier this year [I posted the story on this thread] That stated a number of important conclusions. First, the Russians are going to do what ever they want to do regardless of SDI....[that's a not so subtle hint...that the Russians think SDI is a yawner]. Second, there ain't no way that terrorists are going to use ICBM [as some of you conservative wizards, including Bush have claimed.] Third: A major power like China that is in the process of building up their arsenal has ample time to increase their nuclear forces to overwhelm SDI. [Now that's something we want isn't it? ... Encourage the Chinese to make even more ICBMs. Fourth: [Wake up now....this is the good one] While rogue nations, e.g., are developing ballistic missile, those missiles are fairly easily detectable; with an SDI system, you should expect those rogue countries to turn to the less detectable delivery systems used by terrorists. [You might want to read that part a second time.]

In the infinite wisdom of his highness, G.W. Bush, and acclaimed by titular brains across the country [that includes you], we're going to spend Billions of US Dollars, developing a system that the Russians don't give a shit about, the Chinese will field more ICBMs, it was never an issue for terrorists to begin with, and we're going to encourage rogue nations to use less detectable [and cheaper] delivery systems.

Oddly, if we're successfull, after Billions of US$ we'll be at more risk and more vulnerable than before we started.
