Hi John:

I have a lot of posts of yours to respond to but time is tight so this is the first. On CMRC they were late to see the close off in spending. Not to defend but they had the record 4th quarter and even Hoffman hadn't managed thru a recession before. So they were late in pulling back and starting costs cuts to survive. At least they did get the SAP financing or else they would be toast.

Speaking of toast. One problem with many of the companies financed in the bubble is they have plenty of capital to ride out a 1 to 2 yr recession and thus we won't see the type of consolidations experienced in prior recessions. This will be a negative as it leaves too much competition with the resulting pressure on margins for the survivors (sebl margins included).

Actually from what I'm hearing the service industry is starting to open up the it budgets but manufacturing is still experiencing quite a bit of stress. The only way manufacturing comes back is to have the $$ weaken. Not just against Japan and asian countries but also european.

I degress and the above is for another post. CMRC has the finances to survive this recession as long as it ends by next year (ouch).
