The dereliction of duty is certainly not confined to the Bush administration or this Congress.
OK. Sorry. I misunderstood where you were coming from. Partisanship is the rule on these boards rather than the exception.

I wasn't posting political threads back then. Were you?
Yeah. But I came to SI for STOCKS, not politics. And I'm finding the only way to keep my eye on the ball is to keep my eye on the ball and not get distracted by threads like this one. And that, I believe, is going to mean staying clear of them.

If it helps, I was equally distrustful of the secret military actions and groups in previous administrations.
With good reason. Gov'ts should not be trusted. They are given powers that no other organization in society has. And they should be watched.
The power of the US federal gov't has been growing ever since it was established. It got a big boost by the Civil War (states rights became a dirty phrase) and even bigger ones by WWII and the Cold War.

That missing $2T? I'd be surprised if was actually stolen. Spent in ways and for things the gov't doesn't want you to know about? Quite possible.

Given the amount that sloshes around inside DOD, it's quite possible that part of is still around and the auditors just couldn't find it.
