"Things like 9-11 happen precisely because we do not have a bunch of people spying on us"

Or, because there are too many spies with too many fingers in too many pies.

"You can get all kinds of stuff about the government"
Like, who were our elected leaders talking to, you mean?

"There is no large secret police force, which is why we have a problem with terrorists, cannot effectively interdict drugs, and are awash in illegal aliens"

The drug interdiction problem is impossible, and won't be solvable with any amount of policing. That's a phony war, without merit. Users and society would be better off without it. I'll publish a link to the history of it when I run across it.

The problem with domestic terrorists is an interesting one. Why would the CIA publicly disclose against regulation and its policies the name and city of an operative that was killed on duty? Doesn't that risk the lives of the wife, child and parents left behind? Are they stupid?

Why do you think they did that?
I'd like to hear your speculation on that
