Tony, <Banias same core architecture as PIII-M?>

No. Banias is a new core being developed specifically for the mobile market. It is especially targeted toward the thin-n-light market segment, which Intel projects as the largest growth segment in laptops.

It's being developed by the engineers in Haifa, Israel, and it should arrive in 2003 under a new brand name.

Tony - Re: "this article looks a bit premature, but what the hell:..The new model, expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2003, will use Intel’s new Banias Mobile CPU "

Uh...yeah, that's jumping the gun a bit !!

But it indicates that Dell is looking ahead and planning for Intel's new Banias mobile CPU.

Tenchusatsu has answered your question about Banias architecture.

I wonder if Eric Ross - of Thomas WEASEL - is still predicting a Dell notebook with an AthyWiper in it?
