Having the "performance crown" would make AMD decidedly ahead in benchmarks - but I and others on this thread (including other AMD supporters) agree that it's a draw. Re: "Here's a repeat of my link to one burnt and disappointed Intel buyer" I didn't get that impression at all. It sounds like he tried the Intel compiler, and got a vast improvement in his benchmarks. All he is asking about is whether the gcc compiler will get similar enhancements in the future. He is not at all disappointed, or burnt out. wbmw
