You and wanna always repeating that AMD lost the performance crown doesn't make it true, unfortunately for you.

And you denying it doesn't make it false, unfortunately for you.

Neil, Re: "You and wanna always repeating that AMD lost the performance crown doesn't make it true, unfortunately for you."

Unfortunately for you, it is true. Having the "performance crown" would make AMD decidedly ahead in benchmarks - but I and others on this thread (including other AMD supporters) agree that it's a draw.

Re: "Here's a repeat of my link to one burnt and disappointed Intel buyer"

I didn't get that impression at all. It sounds like he tried the Intel compiler, and got a vast improvement in his benchmarks. All he is asking about is whether the gcc compiler will get similar enhancements in the future. He is not at all disappointed, or burnt out.

Neil - Why was this Pentium 4 buyer upset - he sounds quite impressed and pleased judging by his results with Intel's compiler:

"I have my hands on an Intel C++ Compiler (5.0) for Linux optimized for Pentium 4. Rebuilding the benchmark utils with this compiler skewed the results so that the P4 was 30% better than the P3 system.."
