Actually, this particular legislation has not been tested, so we shall see. Yes, the Supreme Court let them get a foot in the door with regulating direct contributions to the candidates, but already made an exception for issue advocacy and "party building". There is a distinct possibility the Court will rule against this legislation if it makes it through, in whole or in part.

Yes, his issue is more practical, to convey the urgency of defeating the legislation. But remember,to him it isn't just a question of winning, it is a question of fairness. He considers Democrats to have advantages that only soft money can counter........
