"..conservatives are the ones who endless flood the congress with letters and petitions"

Someone with expertise (especially in prostitution like Dick Morris!) should post specific numbers and impact among the various political and demographic groups.

But I can say from personal experience in the 90's national election the groups considering themselves "conservative", like NRA are awesome in their reaction power. Absolutely organized and disciplined.

One fellow told me they can rally hundreds of thousands of letters for any single piece of legislation by chain of phone calls, within hours.
Conservatives don't march, tho'

This campaign finance reform issue is fascinating because it will be interesting to see which group comes out where. The Enron debacle is only thing imaginable that could stampede Congress into even slight consideration.

Absolutely wrong. Conservatives have lives of their own to live, for which they don't depend upon government assistance or intervention. Liberals need government to provide guidance and direction for theirs and others' lives, particularly to direct and restrain "evil" conservatives' lives so they don't impinge upon liberals' "rights."

Conservatives would do quite nicely without government, except for the common defense and basic policing. Liberals need government to redirect everyone's behavior to conform with their current -- and ever changing -- notion of what is "just."
