Re: This link almost confirms SUNW and AMD

Hmmm. I'm not so sure that constitutes confirmation.

AMD's dual processors platform is the most cost effective workstation/server platform in existence today. It's quite an achievement of Intel that their tactics of extortion have, so far, successfully kept AMD's superior solution off the market.

I suppose that SUN could decide that they might as well pick up this particular gem and make some money off it - but I'll believe it when I see it.

If this rumor were true, it mean that AMD has broken out of the box that Intel had been keeping them in. If SUN were ever to market Dual Processor Athlon servers, it would constitute the ultimate endorsement. Intel's server position would be slammed down several notches overnight.

Milo

As you probably know Cobalt recently announced new appliance servers based on AMD CPU's. This could be another Cobalt offering. I doubt Sun wants to sell against Solaris under its own name.

On an unrelated matter, I am now engaged :)
