I heard more like, "You were a lot smarter"..."than I was".

meaning it as a passing compliment, but I have seen it in print twice the way you have it.

But he meant it as a compliment and Carly was being very straight forwarded, emphasizing the since here competition had BOASTED that they would benefit from the merger, they will ill equipped to object to the EU, unlike Jack's situation at GE where the competition was actively lobbying the EU.

What Jack didn't say is that he hauled his Honeywell merger in front of the EU at the very time the Clinton administration DOJ was actively courting the EU to do the dirty deed to Microsoft and back up the USDOJ.

Has it ever occured to you that you have never HEARD about the EU until after the Microsoft Case??
