CSCO, more than any other company, represents the market for semiconductor makers. Chips fill the network and the network will be pervasive. AMAT, more than any other company, provides the tools and technology to manufacture chips.

If CSCO and AMAT march in time, then the market is demonstrating its efficiency.

Paul V,
RE: "Tito, What is amazing to me is how CSCO price movement is almost parallel with AMAT's price moment even though there is a price spread between them."

Maybe because I own them both <g> !

Actually, because AMAT has a big presence in the manufacture of many kinds of CHIPs, the stock usually Sympathizes with the stocks of other companies that manufacture and/or consume CHIPs. AMAT serves as an Index like the SOX, QQQ and others. AMAT averages the movements of different Hi-Tech stocks.

In this chart notice how CSCO, who has been outperforming AMAT for a number of years, suddenly slow down then matched the slower stride of AMAT during the last Bull Market --- at a time when AMAT started to become more popular to Investors: ---
