Yes, Intel's well documented motherboard and chipset problems - with recalls of mth boards having run in the hundreds of thousands to millions - may have driven SUN to rock solid Athlon MP platform.

PIII - 1.13GHZ problem.

The Itananium's problem that had only Compaq holding back while Dell and HP were shipping known defective Itanium systems.

The list goes on and on.

Itanium? I don't think so. The article specifically stated x86
