Sanyo expects demand to remain weak

The Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer, Sanyo Electric's work-share program has been accepted by the trades unions, according to Japanese newspaper reports.
Sanyo's 10,000 manufacturing employees will accept pay cuts of up to 20% as part of the program, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported.

Each employee will work about 60 days less this year.

Sanyo is the first of Japan's major electronics makers to reach pay cut agreements with the unions.
