Check the earnings statement. You tell me: how much goodwill did they write off?

I thought "--" was short form for zero. I also note in the P/R balance sheet that total Goodwill has risen to 3.3 Billions, which is about half the size of Retained Earnings.

I shouldn't have to tell an Accountant with an MBA what that means.

As to "I can't think of any reason why a company wouldn't take a goodwill amortization in any given quarter", well I couldn't either. Unless the negative impact on GAAP earnings is undesirable <ggg>
