I didn't say that. We were talking generically about putting the memory controller on die. At least I was. I was saying that large L2 would go a long way to addressing the same problem and Intel's approach to SMP is to use a shared bus and the memory controller on die would prevent that generic approach. If my wording was confusing then sorry. I would also like to point out that low power is important in embedded designs as well as laptops. Intel sells some very low power versions of their desktop products. Some as low or lower than notebook versions.
