at the least i would like QCOM to be very up front about non-cash "revenues". for example, they might break out their revenues both with and without the non-cash consideration.

If I understand what you are saying, this can (should?) be booked as revenue but should also be broken out. I guess if this was about more than $200 million I could see myself getting more worked up.

The amounts were never disclosed but the fact that they were getting equity for the licenses was well known.

nowadays just seems one of those panicky environments where people sell first and ask questions later.

Cramer's take was that eventually the Bears would overshoot. They would go after a fundamentally healthy company and would get hurt by a buyback or some other action by the company. Not sure if Qualcomm is that company, but I think irrational fear has replaced irrational exuberance.
