"Equality of speech" ? What does that mean, that the speaking of two persons is the same? That's a misleading phrase, unless you mean "equality of access", which I'm sure you don't.

"Freedom of speech" is the freedom to speak your mind. Freedom of association is the freedom to speak to others.

The issue I'm concerned with is within the safeguarding of the public commons. You can't allow individuals to shut the door to the townhouse (i.e., media concentration if it prevents editorial diversity of views). If those with bigger megaphones can prevent others from exercising their freedom of speech, that's another analogy I'm uncomfortable with.
