Kemble,

Dan Niles just came out and said Dell will miss by a penny. Will report 16 not 17 cents. Revenue q/q down 2 to 3% and declining margins. All this despite Dell's preannouncement.

Guess this was the source of the rumor.

Larry

Larry,
Hi!!

RE: I do know that Dell has been short some components, such as sound cards. This may have some impact, but how much, I sure don't known. Also, this problem would not be a sign of pc sales falling off. In fact, it might represent an increase in demand and the inability to get the components in time to meet this demand. Oh well, we'll know the full story by next Thursday.

Yep...Any time in the past that I have called IR or talked to someone at meetings they have told me that there are components from time to time that can't keep up with orders...And, there are usually other switches that can be made in certain component situations...They do think in advance here... :o) Obviously, certain components NEED to be there and I have always received the same comments: "demand"...
I find it ludicrous that DN is still "predicting" short term...Especially since his vision isn't past the next month...Whoooah ...That takes some real intelligence...Let's hear him explain how DELL was not going to be able to continue to climb (an earlier prediction)...What he has against DELL I haven't discovered, but he surely ain't throwing any compliments...His caution IMO is always a negative...The results are astonishing and even prideful Larry Ellison finds DELL's gain/market share (4pts.) remarkable...

Best, Kemble
