maybe you should read the post again, I did not claim that intel has any rebate program let alone that would make their chips free. Please, do not put words in my mouth.

OTOH, we are in a price war and the big advantage that amd got (possibly the only one) is lower margins. If Intel would eliminate that margin requirement advantage then it all would be in intel's favor. It is not fud to suggest how it can potentially be done via accounting tricks the fud would be to state that intel is doing it without any proof.

re: That's a little off topic, since we were talking about whether Intel controls the type of configurations that OEMs build with Intel CPUs. Extended rebates may increase demand for their chips, but I doubt it would be enough to prove what we've been arguing.
