tim-

the rhetoric about guantanamo is just to
bring things into the light... under observation.

under observation, government works cleaner for all.

rumsey has responded well... i LIKE that dude.

"oh the eyes... oh the eyes of the world are watching
yew."

Oh, gli occhi del mondo ti stanno guardando.

Port Elizabeth tempo bello
Era un'attività normale
Al posto di polizia 619.

Oh Biko, Biko, perché Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, perché Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
- l'uomo è morto.

Quando provo a dormir la notte
Posso solo sognare in rosso
Il mondo esterno è bianco e nero
Con solo un colore morto.

Oh Biko, Biko, perché Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, perché Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
- l'uomo è morto.

Puoi spegnere una candela
Ma non puoi spegnere un fuoco
Quando la fiamma inizia a far presa
Il vento soffierà più forte.

Oh Biko, Biko, perché Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, perché Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
- l'uomo è morto.

Oh, gli occhi del mondo ti stanno guardando.

There may have been some arrogance and their certainly was some stubbornness involved but the idea wasn't that we were above the Geneva convention as much as it was that the detainees were not covered by it.

If you can either take the position that the Geneva Convention applies but that your detainees aren't POWs under it and leave the rest of the world feeling warm and fuzzy or take the position that the Geneva Convention doesn't apply and getting everyone all exercised that we think we're above the rules, it only makes sense to do so. When it's no skin off our nose to be collegial and cooperative, we ought to do so without hesitation, not have to be dragged kicking and screaming. It's one thing to consciously alienate others when there's something important at stake. It's just dumb to do so unnecessarily.
