I totally agree with you.
I think the illusion of free will is necessary to some people, however. I am not sure I understand why it is necessary, just as I do not understand why religion is necessary- but it can probably all be explained by coding.

You're free to be confused or to be unconfused on this or any other subject. If we didn't know confusion how could we experience clarity?

Each of us is free to choose and to experience the consequences of our choices. In this manner do we define ourselves and know ourselves experientially. What makes things "interesting" is that we're all doing this together and so we get to experience the interactions of free choice. This leads us to make shared choices which we variously call "laws", "rules of play", etc. as well as individual choices.
