You're baaaaaaaaack! (on SI)

Good, it's time.

That is such a kind description of me that I am going to go join a nunnery now so no one will ever have the chance to be disappointed. If I weren't married, I'd run it in my personals ad.

As it happens, a mutual friend of ours PM'd yesterday and demanded a complete accounting of our meeting. I'm going to paste what I wrote last night in my PM'd reply because otherwise it might look as though we had a clever plot to convince the Public World taht each other are so great.

We met in Piermont, NY. The place I'd chosen doesn't accept reservations and we had to wait a while, so we walked around a bit first, hitting the local thrift shop and a couple of nice shops...[note we each found nice incredibly cheap china and glass stuff in the thrift shop.]

Poet is lovely. Not just lovely in appearance, but a lovely person. I knew her right away. (She didn't know me right away, my actual appearance didn't match her expectation as much for some reason. I meant to find out exactly how that was.) She had told me she was a model when she was college age, and I am not a bit surprised. She is also warm and straightforward and fun...

P, I realize that I forgot to mention your shoulder length wavy auburn hair. You could do shampoo commercials, your hair is so beautiful.

Also I forgot to say taht you are a little bit shy, it seemed to me. Do you think of yourself as shy? And that you have a good sense of humor, but that I could skip since it's obvious enough.

We did have a surprisingly good time for two sick people who'd never met before. (I hit myself with some codeine before I got out of the car to suppress the coughing for long enough not to make a spectacle of myself.) It really didn't feel at all as though we had never met before. Some in our position would have gossiped and laughed and gossiped and laughed and talked about everybody on SI, but, being the kind of unsuperficial women we are, you and I very much enjoyed our lengthy, in depth discussion of Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico Philosophicus.

If you aren't in bed, tell me what they told you to do for bronchitis. I think that's what I must have, and N, because we've both been coughing for weeks now. Did they give you antibiotics? How do they know if it's bacterial or viral?

Hi Po,

I;m so glad you two had a good time, though hindered by that virus or infection or whatever it turns out to be. I cough constantly, and since it isn't lung cancer or something interesting, and since I won;t kill my cat, my doctor has given up on me, but I have great sympathy for people who hack and choke.

I have seen pictures of you so I know that E's description was right on, especially about your gorgeous hair. And what you say about her matches what Edwarda once wrote. There was a woman who sat in front of us at the opera for years, and I thought she was the most elegant, naturally beautiful older woman I ever saw. I picture E looking exactly like her.
BUt since you are so beautiful, elegant and tall, I am forced to hate you both. I know you will understand.
