Mark, they had an article on double bottoms in IBD today, which commented that the formation is much stronger if the second leg goes a little bit below the first, and on strong volume to shake out the last weak hands....so maybe you are right, we should thank that Schiit for his handiwork...:)

The ECRI folks are optimistic about the US economy, saying we are in recovery now, and their long leading indicators suggest that we will not have a double dip recession. They think the US will pull Mexico, Korea, Taiwan out of recession as well. Germany is lagging the US, but not looking too bad. Japan does look bad, and will probably have their worst recession in recent history, according to their indicators.

China never went into recession, though, and their GDP is about one third that of Japan. I think in large part Japan's difficulties are a mirror of China's success, as industrial production in China displaces that from Japan. From the Yardeni website, they show production in China up about 700% in the last decade.

Japan has a large amount of cash in their state pension fund, I believe, and may use this to support their government bonds....I hope they can muddle through, otherwise the Q might still be looking for the bottom....

Does KDDI have the financial resources to last through a deep recession in Japan?

Robin

Mark,

<< I am thrilled that the Friday report allowed me to increase my holdings even further. Although my initial shares were at around 6 from the old days, I don't think I've ever felt better about buying QCOM than at Friday's level. >>

Ditto for me to all the above. I added to my position for the first time since 99 at $34.75 and consider anything below $40 an exceptional entry point for ltb&h.
