Well, so far I have not found the statistics you refer to. Ignorant I guess. I see that 65%+ are black and hispanic (perhaps Muslim and Catholic?). I see that black youths are 1% of the population and commit 20% of murders or something like that. (Maybe they are Southern Baptists.) Anyway I am looking for the statistics that confirm your contention that religious people are much to be feared and are in general much worse for society than other people. I do not see the justice department talking about it. I'll get my kids to help me, since they are much more technically savvy than I. In addition, I'd like them to know the dangers they represent to society. Alas, we have dragged their unsuspecting sorry butts to church. At least perhaps they won't miss out on any of the fun out there for religious people--all that fornicating and all.
I have been in prisons quite a bit more than average citizens. I spent 2 years as an M-2 sponsor of an inmate in for murder 1. A friend of his robbed me as soon as he got out. I have spent 5 weekends on visiting and counseling programs the last 3 years and am about to go again. I hope you have afforded yourself the opportunity. It is an amazing experience. I do not think "religious culture" accurately captures the sense one gets when the doors lock behind you upon entering a maximum facility. Anyway, I am engaging much less in these discussions on SI. It seems I do not have to read them very often, as very little changes, and I do not miss much in my absences.
