I think you missed the point. It is that people are not going to be buying cellphones when they have other priorities. I am quite familiar with India and on a recent visit, I noticed that the urban areas (where most of the purchasing power exists) are more or less saturated with cellphones. All this talk about phenomenal growth in the coming years are baloney. It is amazing that we are still debating this almost two years after the bubble burst.

arun--I'm glad to see someone who understands why India (and many other so-called developing nations as well) is such a lucrative market for wireless communication, particularly the wireless local loop systems made possible with CDMA. If anything, most analysts are underestimating the potential returns from these markets (and not just in terms of cell phone revenues or royalties).
