it was only 6 months, which was considered pretty long. most people are lucky if they get 3 months. But Cisco's good at not pissing people off that they will most certainly need again a year or so from now.

But even if some got 12 months, what the company will do is pay the check to those folks up front. Then they take the charge all in one quarter. It's not something that affects the income statement beyond when the layoffs and severance occurs.
