There is an audible difference when listening to satellite through a Yamaha receiver and Sony speakers as compared to a Proceed AVP, Proceed AMP 5 with B&W speakers.

>I presume you to meant that 160 kbps MP3's are lousy. I personally, can't tell the difference between 128 kbps (encoded with Lame of course) and "real CD".

Not that 160 kbps MP3's are lousy but most of my collection is at least 190 kbps but mostly 256 or 320 kbps. Yes, I can hear the difference. I do go overboard with audio/video equipment as I am even using B&W LM1 speakers with my computer (combined with a Boston Acoustics sub).

Besides, encoding with my 1.4 Athlon and Plextor drives is so fast why not go for quality! Not to mention that hard drives are so cheap...
