Geac Enterprise Solutions, a division of Geac Computer Corp. Ltd., has signed its 45th local government customer to its Pathway PPR solution. This includes 20 new Pathway PPR customers added in Australia and New Zealand in the last 12 months, in addition to more than 60 existing local government customers across the region using legacy systems. The contracts, won through competitive tenders, are valued at between $400,000 and $1.2-million, and include the cities of Liverpool, Ipswich, Bankstown, Whitehorse and Great Lakes Council. "Geac has been in the local government market since 1998," said Garry Dohnt, general manager, local government for Geac. "We've found that the key to satisfying demand in this active market is to fully understand the needs of local government and focus on developing specialist products rather than simply customizing existing enterprise-level applications like many of our competitors." "Pathway PPR is designed to provide grassroots, genuine business benefits for everyday requirements of local government authorities. It can be integrated with existing in-house systems and provides the basis for councils to join the e-business world. Software licensing costs are scaled to usage, which allows councils of any size to use the product," Mr. Dohnt added. Geac's main tool for local government, Pathway PPR -- People, Property and Regulatory System, is a fully functional client/server solution, offering full interoperability and integration and covers the major components of local governments' IT systems including property administration, rates and billing, building and development applications, customer service, e-commerce, income receipting, and licensing.
