Yeah. But the gold bugs are always with us. They are particularly active during bear markets- -"THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY FALLING, BUY A GOLD UMBRELLA!" I remember crazy goldbugs running loose in '73. And that dates me.

since the last bull cycle was substantial, the following bear market needs to be pretty painful for the market to maintain a long term healthy equilibrium.
Yup. I now expect some UP, then a larger DOWN and it gets fuzzy after that. I'd guess a trading range for a while- -maybe years.

I don't think that the overall market can ever really be a "secular bear".
Oh, I think we'll get it at some point. But not soon. Probably not in any of our lifetimes. Because it will mark the end of the US as a world power.
