Perhaps you are right, although I have seen people serve as panelists before small audiences and it was considered a speaking engagement. If they were supposed to discuss issues before an audience of Enron executives, I am not so sure. In any event, these people are used to being called upon to pontificate for hire by all kinds of groups, and the fees they got are in line with, and in some cases probably less than, the fees they could command through their speakers' bureaus. I know this partly because my wife has had to look for speakers, and I have helped her look through bureau web sites to find the right person at the right price.......
