And he will give a priority to repair your phone line if you pay him a little extra on the side. The Lineman (as he he is known there) struts along like the king of his local area, bestowing favors on the lucky ones. When your phone line is down you seek out the Lineman. He is usually somewhere in the neighborhood, always fixing some line or the other which has stopped working due to the last rainstorm or whatever.
