Okay John, so exactly where and why does a 2GHz photon get absorbed please?

An aerial absorbs it if it's the right length, but exactly where does the energy show up for a single photon being absorbed? In the tip, the middle, the bottom? All of them depending on the shape of the wave as it arrives? In a single electron, or what?

A photon wave function front arrives at a potentially absorbing bunch of stuff [say a melange of aerials, water, ice, brains]. Where [precisely] does it stop and why?
