LOL!! Appears they're all masters of evasion, so far...

Wow! Will we see you on television while you're in SLC, Jerry?

Re Houston: When I moved there from the 'AC/DC' LOL! state of KY to join TXN, I was astonished that the Civil War was still being fought ... the 'Letters to the Editor' in the Chronicle and Post raged daily ... seemed to be an issue as Michigan 'Yankees' were 'invading' from the frigid North. 'Black tags' was a commonly expressed epithet. Bumper stickers: "Will the last one outta Michigan please turn out the lights?" Mason-Dixon line was exhaustively discussed ...

The 'natives' -- native Texans (that term itself was also surprising to me) would ask me where I came from (re accent). The responses ran in the vein of, "Oh, yeah! Kentucky ... Tennessee ... YOU'RE OKAY!!! You fought at the Alamo!" LOL!

Very interesting were those years of acclimation to TX ... boom years (82-83). Enjoyed them.

Coming from that AC/DC state, at the time, anyway, it had its own style of big-time bigotry goin' on ... in a variety of manifestations. I'm not sure how much that has changed in the 20 years since I lived there. Racial segregation was huge. Tangible. Obvious. Permeating.

Not a good thang.

Have a great time, Jerry!
