ACF, Yes, by changing the length of the measuring stick, we avoid deflation. Uncle Al can change the length of the $ any amount he likes because it's an abstract entity.

People seem not to grasp that point at all, or understand the consequences. I think I've got it.

He just needs a target, some basket of goods, services, or whatever and he can increase or decrease the length of the dollar so that the size of the basket remains constant [or increases by 3% a year - it's good to print a bit extra as profits of control].

I like it when everyone is on the same cosmic frequency. The music of the markets should be a thing of harmony and beauty, not jangling conflicting sounds, confusion and discordance.
