Interesting that no one on the thread has yet mentioned today's ATT announcement (finally) about using Ciena's CoreDirector in its 40 city upgrade.

Wayne, Thanks for the statistics. It is also worthy to note that dark fiber is just like a railroad the owns no rolling stock. It is a valuable asset, but it certainly does not provide excess capacity. It the case of optical networking that capacity can only be gained by lighting the fiber with transmission and switching equipment, the kind of stuff Ciena sells. I believe that most analysts will again be caught with their pants down when demand recovers. It will come back with a vengence. See Soundview's last report. Jack
