Desktop chip to power Toshiba notebook news.com.com

Toshiba is set to become the first brand-name PC maker to launch a Pentium 4-based notebook in the United States, beating competitors to market by several weeks.

But there will be a twist. The new Satellite 1905, announced Monday, uses a desktop Pentium 4 chip instead of the forthcoming mobile Pentium 4-M from Intel.

Paul, Re: "The all-in-one Satellite 1905-S277 provides the performance necessary to perform daily productivity tasks and multimedia functions. More than three hours(a) gives users ample battery life whether sitting in their home office, taking notes in class, or working on a project at a local coffee shop."

Not too bad. And here the AMDroids made it seem like Pentium 4 laptops could barely push 30 minutes. <g>

Of course, in all fairness, 3 hours is probably a best case scenario - but still, getting significantly more than an hour fits the needs of the majority of laptop users. Hopefully, Banias delivers performance for less power in 2003 to satisfy the rest.
