The chimp, or monkey company has to come out with a product that has some advantage, or they'd bever sell anything. JUST a performance advantage, BTW, doesn't make it, as the world also wants reliability, stability and solid infrastructure support, things AMD can't claim. Found this stuff out in the real (non-Internet message board) world competing with IBM, who ends up winning anyway in their bread and butter products. This all manifested itself in AMD losing market share, while they still had a performance advantage.

TWY, Re: "the fastest AMD processor (at least at the .18um technology node which is all we can compare to date) significantly out performed the fastest corresponding Intel processor and cost significantly less. Now....let's have the Intel stooges provide some rationalizations for that. Who's first???"

No explanations are necessary for this question - AMD engineers simply deserve major props for their accomplishments. Intel will have to do better, and there's nothing like good competition to result in good products (and Intel's .13u Pentium 4 is the first of those good products at this point in time). The only problem with AMD is that good competition + one egomaniacal CEO = one heck of an anti-Intel Jihad from the AMD fanatics. Now... let's have the AMDroids provide some rationalizations for why good competition has to turn into such a religious holy war. Who's first???
