A million Americans die every year from obesity related ailments in the US vs about 50,000 to 100,000 from Tobacco. We now are starting to see a large increase of "adult onset diabetics" (obesity related), ot type II diabetics in children and teen agers. I don't think it is amusing since the industry is targeting children before they reach kindergarten, and now those guys have such a hold on that new generations that schools are afraid to "lose kids" and offer the same. Of course, they offer healthy food, but they advertise the fat stuff and I have never seen them advertise the health virtues of their fish or chicken (but then, I rarely watch the tube <g>).
