Looks like JPM may have dumped billions of gold derivatives into the books of Enron.

either:

1) Enron execs were mostly unaware and someone at JPM decided this was how to get out from under them.

or

2) Enron initiated the contracts. Maybe Enron execs thought they were derivative genuises or someone in the Clintonista Whitehouse who has control of the Exchange Stabilization Fund told them not to worry because they could keep a lid on gold, and Gore would continue to play along and guess what, George W blew their plans.
