Teradyne Ships 1000th Catalyst to QUALCOMM

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 2002--Teradyne Inc., (NYSE: TER - news) announced today that it has shipped its 1000th Catalyst to Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT), a division of QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM - news). Teradyne's Catalyst, the first test system to introduce system-on-a-chip (SOC) test, will be used to test wireless RF and mixed-signal chips and has already been installed in QcT's San Diego location. The Catalyst family products are the world's top selling SOC chip testers.

Mike Bradley, president of Teradyne's Semiconductor Test Division, will present a commemorative plaque to Michael Campbell, vice president of engineering for QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies, in recognition of the event.

``It is a great honor for Teradyne to be shipping the 1000th Catalyst to QUALCOMM,'' said Mike Bradley. ``QUALCOMM has earned its reputation as an industry leader by repeatedly being able to meet aggressive test development challenges while achieving their cost of test objectives and maintaining their high quality standards. QUALCOMM's leadership in Code Division Multiple Access digital wireless technology, coupled with their selection of our Catalyst Test System, will allow their customers to continue to rely on QCT to meet their wireless and mixed-signal testing needs.''

``Teradyne offers the winning combination of products and people,'' said Campbell. ``The Catalyst system has helped QCT to achieve the advances in technology that have made us the industry leader without compromising on test economics. With the Catalyst platform, we can ramp up quickly at leading suppliers, which often requires efforts on a global basis, and Teradyne has been able to support us with skilled engineers worldwide.''
