Maybe so, but the rank and file are also getting paid better than ever before. Stock options were once only given to executives and now many employees get them as well. So maybe the absolute differential has increased, but employees have it alot better than they used to. Ask any Cisco or Microsoft employee if they would willingly give up their options. If a company has to pay my CEO $1 billion a year, so that I can get options that might be worth several hundred thousand, then I'm game.

Once that number is affected by the market decline the disparity you refer to will close back to its' more normal relationship
