Cisco, Ciena Sign Contracts with AT&T
February 11, 2002 1:55:00 PM ET

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Networking companies Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) and Ciena Corp. (CIEN) said on Monday they signed contracts worth millions of dollars to supply equipment for long-distance telephone carrier AT&T Corp.'s (T) optical network.

San Jose, California-based Cisco, the world's largest maker of equipment that directs traffic on the Internet, said AT&T has installed Cisco's ONS 15454 Sonet Multiservice Platform optical transport system, a box that allows transport of voice, video and data, as well as the software to manage the system.

Exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Cisco said it is a multiyear, multimillion-dollar contract.
