Patricia: Good observations in your post. Something that I have not seen discussed is how Germany, Japan and Italy viewed the "Axis of Evil" blunder by George W. Bush.

When someone of GWB's stature (?) says "Axis," the first thing that comes to mind is the triumverate of World War II. All three countries mentioned above -- now firm allies of the United States -- have spent decades trying to put World War II into the distant past, and now GWB dusts off the term and uses it in connection with North Korea, Iran and Iraq.

More cowboy mentality from GWB without thinking through the consequences.

Israel, meanwhile, insisted it didn't want to join any axis, but
privately, world leaders said that's only because no one asked it.

(LOL)

On a serious note, people in Iran are so upset with Bush that they march in the
streets.

W and his AXIS ! You think W was ever a figure skater, Pat? Maybe, the
next Olympic Committee will consider him for a position as a judge in the next pairs
skating. You think he'd see the Russian skaters screw up?
