RE: Tick. Notice a lot of references to the Tick on the threads. Just looks like a really bad heart rhythm to me on the daily charts (see for yourself):

Could anyone explain the utility of this indicator or lead me to some helpful websites?

Thanks

there is a greater public awareness that we are in a bear market. But does that, in and of itself, result in an upturn in the economy and the stock market?>>>>

not at all, as of yet the xtreme bearish sentiment in sept. has only caused a reaction to the trend (a nice reaction if you played it)

but bottoms come when pessimism is extreme, can we top the late sept. extreme in pessimism on this leg down?

My point is that, yes, there is a greater public awareness that we are in a bear market. But does that, in and of itself, result in an upturn in the economy and the stock market?

That is a good question. I think many people make the mistake of assuming that because the majority tends to be wrong at major turning points the converse of that is also true, i.e., that the existence of a majority view means a major turning point is at hand. That would be a mistake. For example, while it would be reasonable to assume that someone taking the next freeway exit will be driving in the right hand lane, it would not follow that most in the right hand lane are taking the next exit.

In short, the bear market consensus could be correct for a while, even as we assume the consensus will still be bearish (and wrong) at the eventual turning point.

Regards,
PerryA

Uptick in Ameritrade selling today. Although they bought the 45% split in ACRT. "Kinky" would be Fleck's word for ACRT.
