Gibson , "The president cited Iraq, Iran and North Korea as an Axis of Evil. He says We will not let dangerous regimes threaten us with mass destructive weapons. What do you think he means by that? What is he going to do?"Daschle , "I think what the President did was to put these countries on notice. Letting them know that we know more than what he acknowledged about what they're doing. But you know the memory of 9/11 runs so deeply that we know that we gotta take more preventative action. And the president outlined some of the steps last night in his address and i think that congress supports him Charlie."Gibson , "Do you think the Congress would support military action if it came to that? Against those three countries?"Daschle , "I think they would. I think there is a strong belief the we need to do whatever is necessary in order to prevent the kind of attacks we saw last fall. And if it takes preemptive strikes and preemptive action I think the Congress is prepared to support it."Lerher , "Was the president right to use the term "Axis of Evil" in labeling Iran, Irag and North Korea in his state of the Union speech last month?"Daschle I don't think so. I think that it's important for us to look to each of these countries Jim to ahh, as, as threats to this country clearly. As problems to address clearly. But I think that we've got to be very careful with the rhetoric of that kind. You've already seen the moderates in Iran scramble to distance themselves from us. And I think you've got to be careful how you treat all three countries..
