It worked for me. I found this one: plycon.com Sanyo Denki to work better (on 1.33 GHz Tbird) than the absolutely slowest/quitest fans).

You should listen to your machine to find out which components is the loudest. It may be a power supply in some cases. And at some point, the hard disk(s) will become the noisiest device (after you silenced the fans.

I use this fan as case fan in one computer: crazypc.com and it is very quiet.
